For Mac · Menu bar and library

Every screenshot, filed and found

Take screenshots the way you always do. Captr files each one by the app it came from, and finds it later by the words inside it.

Search

Find screenshots by the words in them

Captr reads the text in every screenshot, so typing "quota exceeded" finds the screenshot of that error from last month. The matching line shows right on the card.

Or browse by the app a screenshot came from: Captr notices the app and window title when you capture, and lists every app in the sidebar with its icon.

Searching for quota: one result, the Atlas deploy log from Safari, with the matching text Deployment failed, quota exceeded under it
Menu bar

Your latest screenshots, one click away

Click the menu bar icon, or press ⌃⌥⌘S from any app, for your newest screenshots. Copy one, copy just its text, pin it, or drag it straight into Slack, Mail or a document.

After each capture, a small preview waits in the corner of the screen, ready to drag, copy, crop or delete. It never takes focus from what you're doing.

Share safely

Hide private info before you share

Crop to the part that matters, and blur or black out anything private. Or click Find Private Info and Captr hides emails, phone numbers, card numbers and API keys for you.

Screen recordings get the same care: trim them, and export a GIF for tools that don't play video.

Tidy

Keep the good one, clear the rest

Captr finds duplicates and retakes, the five tries at getting a crop right, and keeps only the newest with one click.

  • Pin the screenshots you want to keep
  • Move unpinned screenshots to the Trash after 7, 14, 30 or 90 days
  • See where the space goes, by app and by month
  • Undo any delete for a few seconds
Duplicates: three near-identical Build Failed screenshots from Xcode, with a Keep Newest button
Rules

Rules for every app

Send Figma screenshots to Design/Figma, name Xcode screenshots with the window title and time, keep Slack screenshots for a week. Name templates use the app, window, date, time and size.

Rules by App: Figma to Design/Figma and renamed, Slack kept 7 days, Xcode renamed and kept 30 days, Safari to Web

Widget, Share menu and Shortcuts

Keep your newest screenshots on the desktop or in Notification Center. Send images and recordings to Captr from any app's Share menu.

Shortcuts actions get the latest screenshot, find screenshots by their text, or get the text of the latest one (macOS 13 and later). Spotlight can find them too, if you turn it on.
